Time for a Face Lift

So New Year means resolutions and lifestyle changes for 90% of people!
This year Hubby and I made a pretty big list of resolutions but one of my personal ones this year is to stay on top of this blog! Chris and I have a ton of things going on, and I'm really excited to share it with all of you. As a Christmas present, while my dad was in town he set me up with my own domain name-- MarineWifey.com

For now it just reroutes to this blog but in the (hopefully near) future it will be taking you to a new and improved full website where the blog is just a feature!!

So because I've been slacking on posting for you guys, and I've been buried in Design programs, web coding and photo editing; I figured I'd combine both and give you this post!

Thank you to all the lovely ladies on twitter that helped me pick a Color Scheme!

Here's a sneak peek of the website I'm designing!
(I know its not all lined up and some of the fonts are a little wonky, it's not done yet, go easy on me!)

Please, please, please let me know what you think!

P.S. I am looking for other Military/Marine Wives, Girlfriends, Fiancees, and Family members to link up with, feature on the site and provide products for giveaways! Or if you just have a suggestion for the site please contact me!!

Just to Clarify

Sorry I've been MIA this week!

A lot has been going on and I'll admit, I've been slacking.

Along with feeling under the weather, and having to re-work our budget completely, Hubby leaves for a week long field op on Sunday and I've been trying to spend time with him. No, a week in a safe environment is not anything like a deployment, but I'm a big baby and I love my husband to death. I am not going to complain about him being gone, I will not compare it to a deployment. I will however spend as much time as I can with him tonight and tomorrow so that I can't say I wasted it.

This partially ties into something else I've been dealing with this week. Hate mail. I have received 4 different emails this week from 4 different email accounts. All of them in some fashion stated that I only created the associated twitter account and this blog in order to brag about having my husband with me and to lord it over the other MilSOs, one even went as far as to accuse me of being a fake.

So if this has been misconstrued as that I apologize, this blog and the twitter account I have created is an outlet for me to connect with the MilSO world. I want this blog to be about the joys and adventures of marriage. Specifically a young, military spouse's experiences. I know many of my readers probably do not have their husbands, fiancees, or boyfriends with them when they read about what I go through with my husband.

This blog should be an inspiration to young couples, a reminder that even though you are separated and times are tough that when he gets back you can do things like Chris and I do. By reading my blog I want you to be able to have a huge list of things to do with him when he gets home and I want to make your life easier when it come to dinners, finances, paperwork and things that are normally huge hassles for people. The reason I want all this to be easier is so that you can spend MORE time with him!

I cherish every moment I have with my husband.
Every Moment.

I lost my mother to a drunk driver accident when I was 14 and one of my best friends just last year, both were VERY sudden. There are a million things I wish I could have said and done with both of them, but they're gone. I hope to never have that feeling when I am separated from my husband, and I don't want you to have it either.

Yes, some people may call me an inexperienced MilSO. I wasn't dating my husband when he went through Boot Camp, MCT, nor when he was going through MOS school. We have been blessed immensely that each time he has been told he was deploying, he has been removed from the list. I will never claim to have been through any of those tough times. I regret that I was not with my husband to support him through all that but, God had other plans for us individually at the time.

I applaud every Wife, Fiancee, and Girlfriend as well as the families of the men and women who are deployed. I honestly don't know if I could make it through a deployment. In no way  is this blog meant to demean you or brag about the blessings my husband and I have.

I do know what it's like to lose someone that you love. I do know what it's like to be separated from your SO, and I do live the MilSO life. Chris is a U.S. Marine, I am his wife. We do not have a hard life compared to most Military couples, and we will never claim to.

This blog is meant to help people not be a bragging grounds, if you find my lifestyle or blog in anyway offensive, please feel free to stop following me. If I say something that upsets you please feel free to contact me, I always appreciate the fresh point of view.

Not wanting to end the blog on this kind of note, I will try to post something later today, including a Wifey Life Rule.

Verify your Pinterest Account

I recently found out that Pinterest offers Verification for people that own or run their own websites. This is an awesome opportunity for people that run their own blog, create tutorials or post their original images on their blog! Why? Because if the original pin is was created by you and you're verified, its less likely that someone else can pass it off as their work, and it helps when people are searching for you!

Now a couple of days ago when I tried to verify there was only one way to do it which was to upload an html file onto your Website. This wasn't possible for me yet because I don't technically own my blog/website yet, (no worries, I'm working on it ;] ) But when I checked again earlier today they were offering verification through meta tagging. Its super easy!

Here's my not-so-little picture tutorial! Please let me know if you find this helpful or not! :]

Hopefully this is helpful for you guys! If you have any issues with the tutorial please let me know so I can fix it! If you found this helpful please +1 this post!!

Thank YOU

First off, thank you, thank you, thank you, and thank you again!

You ladies have been SO supportive of me in this endeavor and it has definitely  increased my sanity by tenfold! I started this blog six days ago, and in those six days this blog has managed to average out 200 individual views A DAY. That means there are at least 200 different devices checking this blog, every day on average. Along with that my twitter account rocketed from just about 600 followers a week ago to almost 1000!

I am feeling so incredibly blessed to be able to share my experiences with you all and so grateful to have the MilSO community to support me through all this. My poor husband probably though I was never going to put my laptop down during the first 48 hours, but now we've realized that my "bloggie" time generally coincides with his Call Of Duty time. :] Problem solved!

As I posted yesterday I am really looking forward to doing giveaways as my follower base continues to grow and right now I'm hoping to get it going by the end of the second week of December! I want it to be open to everybody so please share this with your friends! DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!! There is a poll up on the right hand side of my blog asking what kind of free products you ladies would like to receive, I want to give you things you will be happy with. I don't want to be the awkward aunt that gives you something you'll never use!

Every single one of you ladies is absolutely amazing! I am having such a wonderful time getting to know you all and learning more about how I can help you. I am completely awestruck by how many of you have reached out to me and asked for advice, given me feedback as well as just offering simple words of encouragement and thanks.

I am doing this for YOU!

You are the amazing women that stand beside your man
You are women of the Silent Ranks
You survive what most women could never comprehend.
And you do it all while supporting others at the same time.

Not only do you make yourself and your relationship stronger everyday, but you divide that strength up and share it with those that are struggling along side you.

I love each and every one of you and I cannot tell you how much I admire your strength.

This blog is meant to be about making your life easier, what are you struggling with, what do you want to know more about? How can I help you?

Please leave a comment if you have any kind of feedback or suggestions for posts.
Or e-mail me if its something more private.
If I haven't experienced it, I will find someone that has.
If I don't know the answer to your question, I will do research and find the answer for you.
:]
I'm here to help you.

Stay strong ladies, whatever your obstacles in life right now, you will be better because of them.

Branching Out

Today is a very exciting day!

On Twitter like any other day and one of the real, when I say real I mean that she has over 1200 followers on twitter and is a beacon of light in the dark to every MilSO on twitter, Milso Anons @hooahkindoflove started a blog today. Well really its more like a whole website and when I offered up my "So your Marrying a Military Man?" posts to be featured she accepted!

The blog looks to be a collaboration between a few authors and reaches out to every Military branch. I have a feeling its going to be a wonderful place for Military Significant Others to be able to express themselves and connect with others. I'm so excited to see what they have planned for the website!

Please check it out and share with your friends!
